Knot-Tie Buddy Genesis

Some of my best memories were of fishing with my grandfather, who was an avid recreational fisherman his entire life. So avid in fact he purchased a small aluminum boat to leave with us, to have at the ready for when he came up from the U.S.A. to Canada.  Anyhow, one day I see him struggling with the fishing line to tie a simple cinch knot that he'd done all so proficiently his life, and my heart kind of sank on seeing it. I noted throughout my recreational fishing days that he was not the only one, each time feeling the pang of that memory.  I swore one day I'd do something about it. To be truthful, despite good vision and dexterity, I too had those testy moments when conditions (wind, rain, cold) weren't cooperating. Having thought about the best solve I figured there must be a cool knot tying device out there that would do the job nicely. I bought many and was left totally unimpressed. Why could a knot typing device not be automated? I saw the opportunity and set my mind to task. It had to make a secure connection, be easy to operate, faster than any person could tie the knot, right down to fishing the hook. It soon became apparent that why no such device existed that could satisfy my expectations; because the device had to get out of the way of the knot it created! Years of thinking, some sketches, some jig iterations and magic finally struck one faithful night. I'm proud to have designed and US patented, "Knot-Tie Buddy". Its not a jig, it actually ties the knot for you and gets itself out of the way while doing it.  With just a simply push and pull motion of the handle, an internal helix autorotates, collects the line and executes the knot. The result, a reliable, perfectly formed Uni-Knot, designed to perform (6) wraps.  The device has two hook placement areas to accommodate hooks of various sizes, that funnel the line through the eye. The device can even be used to create a line-to-line connection E.g. backer line to leader. I precision engineered the device to my stringent standards.  Needle bearings for smooth operation, auto-rotation feature, lure/hook placement, locking handle, and neodymium magnetic base. 3-5 seconds to tie the knot and you can be back in the water quick, while the bite is still on.
